It's been quite a while since I last updated this site. I took a much needed break for the last week and a half and got to spend a lot of time thinking about the direction I want to take Managed World in. Hopefully since it appears I'm now over my end-of-the-year burnout and have some fresh ideas in mind, you will be seeing more updates soon.

I'm going to be doing some shorter articles outside of the game series. These articles will cover topics like "Flocking", "Procedural Texture Generation", and such (basically, ideas and articles that won't take as long to write). Plus also, I have to admit that I selfishly hope that some of these articles will have a little more of a "WOW" factor than an entire series that might take a while to get the train rolling down the track.

Keep in tune! And Happy New Year!

Next Article Up

Development Environment - An Implementation is now up. Enjoy.

On a different note, don't expect the updates to come this frequently. I have one more article I can crank out in the next week or two and then everything will be on pause for a while so I can actually complete the game and optimize it before writing the rest of the articles.

I know that sounds pretty disappointing, but look at it this way: when the articles start flowing, they will flow like wine :D. No more long delays after this one. No waiting numerous months for the next article, and more months after that for the next one. I know it's kind of a pain, but trust me, it will be for the better in the long run.

Now, we return you to your regularly scheduled programming....

New Article Up

Well, well, well. Managed World focuses on game development tips and articles that relate to managed languages, mainly C#. An emphasis is placed on Managed DirectX although there is a possibility of future tutorials for managed OpenGL wrappers.

You won't find articles on "How to Initialize Direct3D", or "Creating a Vertex Buffer" here. This site is dedicated to articles not found in other places. So, what kind of tutorials *can* you expect then? Well, for starters, we will delve into topics like "Implementing a Quake-style Console" and "How to Best Architect an Input System". We will focus on higher goals like architecture, code reusability, and maintainability. Put away those kiddy books and be prepared to learn "big-boys" topics.

"Where are all these articles, already?" you might ask. Well, they are being worked on as you read this. Depending on scheduling issues, don't expect to see anything for a month of two. This is mostly a placeholder until then.

In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy your stay here in Managed World. In case of an emergency water landing, you can find the emergency exits on the side of the site. If your computer manages to spontaneously combust in the case of an emergency, it was nice knowing you and I will see you in the afterlife.

Ciao!

I certainly hope it does because this site might become pretty lame from the get go if there the site doesn't even work!! If you happen to read this test posting, good for you! You are probably one of the first set of eyes to see this budding website.

I apologize for the design beforehand since I am not a designer. I tried my best but it still seems like this site is overloaded with "programmer art". All I can say is that I wish I had nearly half the design skills that my friends have.

If you happen to like the site, then YAY! At least I did one thing right. A pretty good foot to start out on if you ask me. Hopefully there will be many other good feet to follow :D.

Ciao!
