The ad

For the first time ever, we bought an ad. Actually, it's more of a charity thing. Maggie's school is renting out a chunk of the local horse-racing track, and we're signed on as an -level sponsor. One of the perks is that we get a half-page color ad in the racing form that day. So I cobbled together one for us.

This'll get into the hands of a couple-thounsand wealthy landowners. We'll see what happens.

Interestingly, I didn't even bother with a phone number or address. We're now in an age where we can just assume that people have decent web access. And that's a good thing.

Very Nice!

I've loved that logo since I first saw it.

Nice, although I read "drainage" as "brain damage" and got confused.

Yeah, that Civilgrrl is by pal Keith McCaffety, an old acquaintance from Houston. He's a really talented illustrator, but he could never really make ends meet. Last I heard, he was trying to get his work-visa in Aruba extended so he could spend the rest of his days there as a caricature artist.

Like most artists, he's a bit of a flake. The logo is the only project we contracted him to do that was actually completed.

I printed up a few with Mao Tse Tungish expressions under 'em, like "BE HAPPY IN YOUR LABOR" and "IN OBEDIENCE FIND STRENGTH". It's surprising how well it fits.

Shelly still wants a big banner to hang from the stairwell.
